Cocordion is a 3 piece experimental indie band conceived upon Colorado’s I-25 frontrange megalopolis. Longing for communication, they’re writhing between post-bedroom pop and pre-Kurzweil Singularity prediction, insisting consciousness is an illusion. The band consists of brothers Mitchell and Mason Macura, and Thom Spano.

Originally, Cocordion was the experimental bedroom recording project of Mitchell Macura started in 2014. With no intention of ever playing any of the recordings live, Mitchell made a short album of garageband, one-a-day songwriting practices titled “someonedays.” Following the release, his brother Mason Macura, the current drummer, joined him and their friend Zach Parinella playing house shows while finishing Molecular Biology and Film degrees at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
After graduating, Mitchell moved to Colorado Springs where he joined the indie bands Briffaut and Eros and the Eschaton. After a year and a half of playing with those music projects, Mitchell was kicked out of Briffaut due to a rehearsal space confusion. With multiple shows already booked for the other project and no one to play them Cocordion was rebirthed as a solo, loop-pedal based project in the summer of 2016. That summer, “COS(home=Audio)” was tracked in an abandoned house on the south end of Colorado Springs, and further self-released in November of that year.
Following "COS(home=Audio)" was a short 17 day West Coast tour with the freshly added bass player Isaac Martinez, and his project I2M1. During the spring and summer of 2017, the three-piece project wrote, tracked and mixed the latest album, “Expectations” set to be released October 27th, 2017. Over the summer of 2017, Thom Spano joined the project as Isaac Martinez parted to be with his family and pursue his project I2M1 more seriously in Los Angeles, CA. Brothers, Mitchell and Mason Macura, and Thom Spano are currently living in Colorado Springs, at the locally renowned house-venue/creative-hub, The Mesa House. They are set to tour through the Midwest in September, and plan to tour regularly throughout the States following the release of their latest record “Expectations” in late October.
"Indeed, Macura hopes Cocordion's music, with its liberal use of musique concrete sound collage, might ultimately "reinterpret what [listeners] believe is music and reexamine what songwriting could be." If that sounds a bit lofty, it's at least refreshing to see an artist take the boldly experimental philosophy of composers such as John Cage and filter it through such a keen ear for pop sensibility." -CS Indy (full article HERE)
"Boulder’s Mitchell Macura, professionally known as Cocordion, prides the raw and unrevised presentation of his experimental EP someonedays which houses the track RadioSilence. Inspired by a friend, the stripped-down and vocal-centric track slowly layers what could be described as less of instruments but more emotional levels as the track progresses. It’s a very unique expression of musical artwork which provides what it most likely only a glimpse into Mitchell’s musical talents and vision." -YellowScene Magazine
